Candice Bennett is done watching the chaos. She’s running for Congress because the people of Virginia’s 11th District deserve better—better leadership, better representation, and a return to ethics, competence, and constitutional respect in Washington.
But this isn’t just any district. Candice knows Virginia’s 11th—block by block, intersection by intersection, cul-de-sac by courthouse. She’s spent over twenty years walking its streets, working in its neighborhoods, and listening to the people who call it one of the most influential districts in the country. And she knows this: The district is changing. It’s younger, more diverse, more dynamic. Its needs are evolving, and its role on the national stage is growing. We need a representative who gets that—and who brings the relationships, experience, and courage to serve not party or ego, but the voter.
A proud and longtime resident of Fairfax County, Candice is a planning commissioner, a public servant, a housing advocate, a marketer, a small business owner, a wife, and now caregiver to her own mother. She is not here for stunts or soundbites. She knows the system, the players, and how development, planning and power actually work in the 11th, the Commonwealth and Washington. She knows how to grind the MAGA machine to a halt, to stop Donald Trump’s chaos from metastasizing even further, and to fight hard for a pro-democracy future rooted in integrity, effectiveness and equality.
Though she has not been waiting in line for office, Candice will bring deep roots and serious policy experience to Virginia’s 11th District. As an At-Large Commissioner on the Fairfax County Planning Commission since 2020, she’s helped guide the region’s growth—block by block, family by family—with an eye toward sustainability, equity, and innovation. At Good Shepherd Housing and Family Services, where she serves as Deputy Executive Director, she works every day to keep Northern Virginians housed and stable. And from 2017 to 2023, she served on the Virginia Fair Housing Board, enforcing anti-discrimination protections and defending tenants’ rights across the Commonwealth.
She also gets how business works—because she built one. As founder of Candice Bennett & Associates, she’s spent over 20 years helping nonprofits, businesses, and campaigns understand people through data, not dogma. She believes small businesses are just as important as our civil servants and military here in Virginia, and understands the threats and challenges they face and that unleashing their potential is vital to our future. She’s tired of watching performative billionaire leaders dodge accountability while communities deal with the consequences - most importantly right here in Northern Virginia.
Candice lives in Lorton with her husband—a veteran and federal employee. Raised in a family of public educators and an aerospace engineer in Houston, Texas, she holds degrees in international affairs and security policy studies from The George Washington University. Her background reflects a balance of real-world grit, applied knowledge, and strategic expertise. She’s lived the American dream in many ways—and she’s not giving up on it.
